# AAReadme.txt -- How to run the b600 programs

To run directly from the HP workstaion:

You must have an account on the cgh machine.
Please don't use the mts b600Proj account to store you data or
	settings files.

A popup menu on the Motif panel has icons to launch
	the b600 programs:

"Wave Generator"	runs the ccgh program.
"Wave Acquisition"	runs the cagh program.
"Wave Planner" runs the Matlab wave planner.

To run from a login shell window on the HP workstation:

You must have an account on the cgh machine.
Please don't use the mts b600Proj account to store you data or
	settings files.

Just type the name of the program you want to run:

	ccgh # Wave controller
	cagh # Platform data acqusition
matlab # Launch the matlab program

To run from a remote machine via telnet:

This is perhaps the easiest way from a PC X client:

You must have an account on the cgh machine.
Please don't use the mts b600Proj account to store you data or
	settings files.

You must authorize cgh to draw on your screen using xhost +cgh
or the similar menu setting on your X-client.

Telnet into cgh and login with your username and password:

		telnet cgh
		...

Now you can run any of the programs from your shell window:

		program -display yourMachine:0.0

In this expression "program" may be ccgh, cagh or matlab.
"yourMachine" is the IP name of your machine known to cgh.
You may also use the IP number for your machine.

If you plan to run several programs, you can set the DISPLAY
	environment variable:

		export DISPLAY=yourMachine:0.0

Now you can run the programs without the "-display yourMachine"

	Example:
		My username is "hugh".
		My password is "sparks".
My machine has the dns name "george".

I want to run the wave generator "ccgh".

			telnet cgh
			username: hugh
			password: sparks

			ccgh -display george:0.0

			OR

			export DISPLAY=george:0.0

		Now you can type:

			ccgh

To run from a remote unix X-Windows system:

You must have an account on the cgh machine.
Please don't use the mts b600Proj account to store you data or
	settings files.

You must authorize cgh to create an x display on your machine.
	The unix shell command is:

		xhost +cgh

You can add this command to your login shell script.

The unix shell command to run a remote program is:

rexec -l username -p password cgh program -display yourMachine:0.0

In this expression, substitute ccgh, cagh or matlab for "program".
If the username on your cgh account is the same as the user name on
your remote account, you can omit the "-l username" and/or "-p password"
options. In this case, you will see a prompt for your password.

The yourMachine parameter is the IP name of the remote machine where
you are logged in. The name "yourMachine" must be known to the cgh system.
If the name is not in the cgh machine's /etc/hosts file, the IP number
of your machine may be used instead.

	Example:
		My username is "hugh".
		My password is "sparks".
My machine has the dns name "george".
I want to run the wave generator "ccgh".

rexec -l hugh -p sparks cgh ccgh -display george:0.0

If my username on george is the same as my username on cgh:

			rexec cgh ccgh -display george:0.0
