GettingStarted.txt -- How to set up a Visual C++ Coops application

Install VxWorks Tornado before installing Visual C++

In the sections that follow, the word "ProjectCode" should denote whatever
name you choose for your project.

Install Visual C++ 5.0 from CD
When asked: install software in the directory c:\programs

Open Visual C++ from the Start Menu

Create a workspace called 'Workspace' in directory c:\projects\projectCode.
(Use the fileMenu and select new.)
Select the 'WorkSpace' index card

Add five projects to directory c:\projects\projectCode\workspace
(Use the fileMenu and select new.)
Select the "Projects" index card
Use the "add to current workspace" button)
A Win32 Console Application named LibTest
	A Win32 Application named LibGeneric
	A Win32 DLL named LibSim
	A Win32 DLL named LibSup
	A Win32 DLL named LibSocket

These steps will create subdirectories in the Workspace directory,
one for each of the subprojects named above.

If you are building a project for a hardware target, create
an additional directory (by hand) in the workspace subdirectory
called LibDSP. The LibSim and LibDSP directories contain many
of the same objects modules compiled for the host and target
respectively. The LibSim will have additional modules for simulating
the target plant. The LibDSP will have additional modules for
interfacing with the hardware.

Using menu Build/Configurations, and remove all the "release"
configurations for these projects.

Using Project/dependencies, set the following relationships:
LibTest depends on LibSup (and/or LibSim)
	LibSim depends on LibSocket
	LibSup depends on LibSocket

Projects/settings:
	For all projects
		C/C++, Level 2 warnings, Preprocessor:
			WIN32_LEAN_AND_MEAN,VC_EXTRALEAN
Check the "Generate Browse Infomation" box.
C++ Compiler Preprocessor extra include directories
		LibTest: ..\..\..\Schema\CoopsCom
		LibSim: ..\..\..\Schema\CoopsCom,..\..\..\Schema\CoopsDSP,..\..\AppCon,..\..\..\Schema\ToolsSignal
		LibSup: ..\..\..\Schema\CoopsCom,..\..\AppCon
	Linker, customize (for all projects)
Uncheck the "Use Program Database" box.
This fixes a bug (Still in V5)
	Linker General Output file name:
		LibGeneric: ..\..\AppCon\Generic.exe
		LibSim: ..\..\Simulation.dll
		LibSup: ..\..\Machine.dll
		LibSocket: ..\..\WinSocket.dll
	Linker Object modules:
		LibSocket (add) wsock32.lib
Debug Settings for LibSim & LibSup:
Executable: ..\..\..\Schema\alltalk\Alltalk.exe (Or a shared copy)
		Working directory:	..\..\
		Program arguments:	Panels.alt
	Browse Info: (for all projects)
Check the "Build browse info file" box.

For adding files, you must select the project by using the popup
window for the project name. This window is NOT visible in the default
out-of-the-box Visual C++ version 5.0, so you have to add it by
using Tools/Customize. Select "Commands" card add category "Project".
Drag the Button described as "Selects the active project" to the toolbar.

Project/Add To Project/Files:

Note, these are all *.c files. It is very helpfull to set up "Files of type"
Pop-up menu in the file browser to "C++ Source Files", this way only *.c file will show and
you won't get confused with *.h files that have the same name.

Files for LibGeneric:
	Schema\CoopsGen\buildGeneric
	Schema\CoopsGen\StringFile
	Schema\CoopsCom\numConvert
	Schema\CoopsCom\strnew

Files for LibTest
	Schema\CoopsSup\TestWindow
	Schema\CoopsSup\winExcept
	Schema\CoopsCom\strnew

File for LibSim:
	Schema\ToolsSignal
		*.c (Only what you need.)
	Schema\ToolsDiagnostic
		*.c	(Only what you need.)
	Schema\ToolsHydraulic
		*.c	(Only what you need).
	Schema\ToolsModeling

		winASM
		winExcept
		winMemory
		UpPCPC
		DownSocket
	Schema\CoopsDSP

	AppCon
		configSim

You will find a file, Workspace.dsw in the Workspace directory.
Create a shortcut for this file and move it up one level to your
ProjectCode directory. This is the file that opens your workspace
when you startup VisualC++. You will observe that you have no glark
at all in your ProjectCode directory. I name this file "ZWorkspace.dsw"
so it is always at the bottom of my directory window.

Note: These files appear to be Supervisor classes, but we use them
on the DSP to support Brad's filter package:

		IIR
		iirLib
		xmath
		linkList
		SupObject
