PRODUCTION SETUP FOR 469DU SYSTEMS BKT 30-Nov-99

NT INSTALLATION:

Note: Do not install 3Com ENet board yet.

1) Do not do a standard NT installation! Otherwise, the drivers
and bios settings will not be correct. Instead, just boot and
NT installation will automatically begin using disk images. If
this doesn't happen, run the "Restore CD" disk, which will do
a Compaq-specific installation using the supplied Microsoft NT
and Service Pack disks. Unfortunately, the Compaq specific
installation creates 3 FAT volumes. Just live with it.

2) When asked what networking protocols to use, select NetBEUI
and TCP/IP. Select NO DHCP server. Adding protocols can also
be done later from Control Panels, Network, Protocols, Add... .

3) Once NT is installed and rebooted, log on as:
	User: Administrator
Password:	<CR> (no password defined; just hit carriage return)
(The above is true for Compaq PCs; it may not be true for others.)

4) Go to Start menu, Programs, Administrative Tools, User manager,
and double-click on "Adminstrator" user account. Type in the
   following password:
	Password: admin
	Confirm Password:	admin

3COM ETHERNET CARD INSTALLATION:

Note: The 3Com card is used to connect to a host network.

1) Run Pre-install software BEFORE Installing Card.

2) Insert card next to Compaq ethernet card.

3) Boot, go to Control Panels, Network, Adapters tab.

4) Press Add..., Have Disk..., and insert 3Com Disk 2 (NOT 1!).
Select "3Com EtherLink XL NIC" and press Okay.

5) Once installation is complete, test the card by double-clicking
on the 3Com adapter, selecting Diagnostics tab, and pressing Start.

TCP/IP SETUP:

Note: The built in Compaq ethernet adapter is used to connect to the
TestStarIIs box rather than the 3Com ethernet adapter. This is because
only the Compaq ethernet adapter software allows auto network speed
negotiation to be disabled.

1) Go to Control Panels, Network, Bindings, Show Bindings for: all adapters.
   a) Disable everything except NetBEUI 3Com ethernet adapter.
   b) Disable NetBEUI Protocol for Compaq ethernet adapter.

2) Go to Protocols tab, select TCP/IP, and press Properties... .

3) IP Address tab:
Adapter: Compaq 10 or 10/100 PCI Intel Controller
	Specify an IP address:
		IP Address: 148.150.203.190
		Subnet Mask:	255.255.255.0
		Default Gateway:	(leave blank)

4) Go to Adapters tab, select Compaq 10 or 10/100 PCI Intel Controller,
   press Properties..., Settings... .
		Network Speed:	100Mbps
		Duplex Mode:	Half

MICROSOFT PEER WEB SERVICES SETUP:

1) Go to Control Panels, Network, Services, Add..., and select
"Microsoft Peer Web Server". Insert the NT CD.

2) Select the following components for installation:
	Internet Service Manager
	FTP Service
	ODBC Drivers & Administration
   Install to default directory: c:\winnt\systems32\inetsrv

3) Change FTP Publishing Directory to:	c:\469DU\bin.

4) FTP Peer services will try to start up and it will go away for
a long time; cancel out of it.

5) When a list of ODBC Drivers is presented, do not select any of
   them; just dismiss the dialog.

6) Go to Start menu, Programs, Microsoft Peer Web Services, Internet
Service Manager. Select the computer, then go to Properties menu,
   Service Properties... item, Service Tab:
	Allow Anonymous Connections: off

6) Go to Start menu, Programs, Administrative Tools, User Manager.
Go to User menu, New user item.
	Username: mts_rt
	Password: mts_rt
	Confirm Password: mts_rt
User Must Change Password ...:	off
	User Cannot Change Password: on
	Password Never Expires: on
	Account Disabled: off

COMPAQ BIOS SETUP: To remove annoying "features".

1) Boot, and press f10 to get into bios setup mode.
	a) Power menu, Energy saver item:
		Energy saver mode: Disable
	b) Security menu, Smart Cover item:
		Cover Lock: Unlock
		Cover Removal Sensor:	Disable
	c) File Menu:

to
	coopsDriver 'Super.dll'
and save as a plain text document.

469DU TABLE DATA FILE SETUP:

The file "c:\469DU\Table.dat" must be customized for the physical limits of
each system and the customer's engineering units preference. Follow the
directions in "TableData.txt".
