Jim, Rod

I talked briefly with Barry Rice about this.
The only way we could come up with to do this is to match the shunt cal
values from the TestStar II calibration. The problem isn't with getting
values into the Transducer ID EERom, the TestStar IIs software can do
this. The problem is that you don't have accurate enough values for
excitation and gain that you can use to transfer to the TestStar IIs.

Teststar II has a different shunt cal resistor for each range whereas
Teststar IIs has a single shunt resistor. To transfer the cal for a
range you will need to temporarily move the proper shunt resistor from
the Teststar II cartridge into the Teststar IIs Transducer ID box, set
the excitation to 10.0v and adjust the gain to match the shunt offset
value recorded for that range on the TestStar II cal sheet.

If you had a TestStar II you would have had to adjust the excitation
voltage while performing a shunt cal in Range1 inorder to correct for
differences between the conditioner used by the cal lab and the customer
conditioner anyway. This procedure is not too much different.

When you have adjusted all the ranges I would then put the original
shunt resistor back into the Tranducer ID box and record the new shunt
offset values for each range.

Maybe the cal lab could run a test to verify the accuracy of transfering
the calibration in this way.

Dan
Rod Larson asked me to touch base with you. We had 2 load cells
calibrated
for a job in Japan for "Teststar II" and they should have been Teststar
IIs.
Per Rod's comments below, is there any way to do this in the field. It
will
cost us in the neighborhood of $10,000 to ship them back from Japan!

Julie in the Cal Lab has the calibration spec sheets if you need them.

Please let me know or just reply to Rod.Larson@mts.com. He is in Japan,
but
he does check his mail often.

Thanks

Jim Smith

Jim,
I have the correct kind of cable for the Cobra system; just the
calibration
data is NOT. I have the right kind of "funny" cable to hook up to the
load
cell; the calibration data is just NOT loaded on the f*king thing.
Julie
told me that the data could be loaded in the right cable. Yes, the
calibration was done wrong cuz I screwed up; however, I got the right
kind
of Cobra cable from Chaska and then was told that the calibration data
can
be loaded into the Cobra cable pod. I cannot believe that we have to
spend
$10,000 to send those load cells back to MTS to load 2 numbers in the
damn
conditioners.

Ask Dan Cross (TIIs S/W guy) about this problem; I cannot believe this.
