News from MTS-J

by Sachiko Tada

MTS Japan began FY2000 by moving into our new office. After packing, moving, and unpacking, we were ready for a good start toward the new fiscal year.

The new office provides a good environment for business, giving us much more space for our demo room and allowing improved contact among all departments. Previously, the Customer Service department was separated from the main office, so Customer Service people needed to take a 10-minute walk over to the main office when they wanted to test something on the demo machines. Now that inconvenience is gone, and all employees are comfortably working in our new office.

Divisions and departments occupy the following space in the facility:

1st floor: Demo room and Small Operation
Center; the layout here is ongoing.

2nd floor: Engineering Division

3rd floor: Sales Division

4th floor: Administrative department,
Dr. White’s office and Dr. Yamaguchi’s office

5th floor: Meeting rooms, Asian Center for VDD

Ryogoku is renowned for Sumo wrestling, the Japanese national sport involving huge fat men dressed only in loin clothes hugging each other and getting very sweaty. In this town, there are some Sumo Beya, where Sumo wrestlers practice, and Ryogoku Kokugikan, which holds the Great Sumo Tournament three times a year, so we often see young sumo wrestlers around the new office. In all, with a mix of restaurants, shops, and houses, the atmosphere in the Ryogoku area is comfortable and popular rather than formal and elegant.

We all believe our new office will serve us well as we work toward our FY2000 goals.
