Thursday April 2, 2017 1. Started warming up servo-valves on Table after learning about new s/w for static lift and the 250T lift-off problem. (state fully) 2. BATS machine servo-valve calibration check started. Could not properly run H2 actuator servo-valve. Instability at low gains at 3000 psi. Lowered pilot pressure to 1000 psi and found that could only adjust valve balance so far w/o limit cycling instability. Decided upon visual inspection. Discovered that the Moog 252 pilot valve on the 256 valve was damaged when the actuator was put into position and attached to the foundation. The coil unit was hit hard from the side and opened a 1/4" gap between coil and base spool ass'y. This, of course, makes nozzle-flapper operation difficult to impossible. Definitely better than some other envisioned problems, such as Bad wiring/cut cable - Bad 494.16 - connector problems. 3. Spent 2 hours now looking for 1 of 10 spare Moog valves. Cannot find any. This is a typical lack of attention to detail. Assigned areas for parts are absolutely necessary. It may have started that way (I don't know cuz I wasn't here), but it is not too bad now. However, there are 5 distinct areas that have mechanical parts and only 1 that has almost all of the electrical parts. However, servo-valves are typically considered mechanical parts. Found servo-valve spares under pump filters in the pump room. This is usually where servo-valve spares are kept, but not under a pile of filters.
