Isagani House 2006
We started to build the house in Isagani around the 1st of the year in 2006. These photos show the progression from early
construction to the finish.
Early Construction
As you can see, the house is made mainly of concrete blocks with a steel roof. The island concrete mixer is a lot simpler
than any we have in USA.
House Outer Detail
The bay window has wrought iron work as well as the living room window next to the front door. The roof has rain gutters
and downspouts for the heavy rain that occurs in the tropics. All of the exterior is tile except for the gables. The front
entryway has colorful tile on the base. There will be a wrought iron and tile fence around this area.
Finished Exterior
Now you can see the entryway railing and front door screen door. You can see the USA addition to the gable for the air vent. The carpenters made 2 of these from scratch to provide attic ventilation to make the house seem cooler. The end view shows the water tank near the roof to hold water. The small roofs you see on the right end of the house are to protect electrical entry and water pump from the hard rains.
House Interior - Bathroom
Bathroom has a shower with on-demand hot water. Floor drain accomodates shower and other water. There is a sill that keeps
water from flowing out the 2 doors to hall or master bedroom.
House Interior - Master Bedroom
The master bedroom is quite large by Filipino standards with room for the PC in the air conditioning. A queen size bed
takes up a lot of room but is worth it. The window is the bay window from the inside.
House Interior - Hallway
The hallway from the living areas goes straight back to the bathroom. The master bedroom is on the right. There are 2 doors
to the left for small bedrooms.
House Interior - Living Room, Dining Room, Kitchen
The main door goes out to the tiled-wrought iron railing area. The hallway to the bathroom is to the left of the couches.
There is another small bedroom just to the right of the refrigerator. The kitchen counter area and back wall are all tiled to aid in hygiene, heat rejection, and longevity. In the last photo, you can see the recessed ceilings that give the room more
height. There are small fluorescent lights built into the living room ceiling in each corner.
Party for Construction Personnel
The Queen Bee (DA BOSS) was presented with her new work helmet. Because she is so short, the tell-tale on top is to help the guys know she is coming.

Pump Boat for Fishing
This is the used pump boat that Tatay Boy uses to go fishing.
Seashore Land in Flordeliz
This is the entrance to the land from the National Highway. It is about 100 meters along some other houses. In the last
photo, our land starts about where the man is standing in the middle of the photo.
These pictures show the start of our 3,000 sq. meters that starts with the coconut trees. They stretch in both directions. To the right, our land goes to the land cleared of trees.
Various shots in several places on the land. The land is cleared of all brush now and is easier to see detail. We have
also constructed a Nipa hut on the land near the cliff overlooking the ocean. The cliff is about 10-15 feet high and
runs down the left side of the land and along the seaside. There is a beach area below the cliff. The last photo shows
2 guys almost to the end of our land back to the road. The distance from the camera to the guys is about 75% of the depth
of the property.
This is the lower area below the cliff on the seashore. The 3rd picture shows the house to the left of our land belonging
to a German. The 3rd to last picture shows 2 guys going towards the steps up the cliff. The last 2 pictures are of the cliff
extending all along the beach and around one end.
Manaya Beach Resort
Manaya Beach Resort is about 2 miles south of our land. It is the nicest resort in the Maasin area. It has a pool that
the locals love to use (for a fee of course - 50 pesos). They have some cottages for rent for about 1500 pesos/day. The
only drawbacks so far are : no tv and no hot water. The owners assure us that hot water is coming.
