The Koi Pond

The Koi are quite settled in their pond now. Here are a few pictures of them. They were hiding from the sun under the rock, but I made them come out and they started circling back under the rock. After getting used to me, they then started towards the bridge. They like to hide from the sun under the bridge as well. As you can see, the Koi are not afraid of Jovie because she is one of the 2 people who feeds them. The man in the 2nd batch of Koi pictures is Uncle Frank who is the gardner/pond keeper.

The Arbor next to the Koi Pond

The arbor area has some new plants. There are yellow bells now blooming on the arbor columns. They will soon climb to the top and start to cover the entire arbor. They grow very quickly in the tropics. Behind the arbor, you can see some of the orchids in bloom. They bloom about twice a year here after the spring and fall rains. They are in the back here because they do not like a lot of bright sun. Later you can see that there is quite a bit of more plants around the waterfall and the new pagoda.

The Native Hut and Garage

The next set of photos shows the Native Hut. It is now completed. All of the wood floors have been varnished and polished. All of the glass in the windows has been installed and the staining of all the exterior is done as well. In the last 2 photos you can see the patio area that has been developed in front of the Native Hut. This is another place like the Koi Pond Arbor where people can congregate for a pleasant time.

The garage has been completed. The first two pictures show the garage done except for rain gutter installation and final painting. The last photo shows the gutter installed and painted. The roof panel and columns are painted white and the roof beams are stained. In the first picture, 3 of our 4 dogs are shown working hard....Long in front, Dexter behind him, and Labra in the back. Yogi likes to hide because Long and he are contesting Alpha male status and Yogi isn't winning yet.

The Chapel

The Chapel near the back gate is also complete, except for the addition of the benches that will be there in 2 weeks and painting the sheet metal on the roof.

The Pagoda

The pagoda next to the Koi Pond and Waterfall is 99% complete. It is a 1/3rd scale simple replica of a famous place in Kyoto, Japan. The only thing missing is the gold phoenix on the top. It is not actually usable except we will have a glider swing on the 1st floor. You have to stoop over to enter. There is a stairway hidden in the back that goes to the 2nd and 3rd floor. It is mainly for maintenance and small people (kids and Jovi) can go up there. The Pagoda is mainly decorative.

Long shots from where the Main House will be towards the Pagoda. Note the tall poles on the left that are the large orchids on the wood posts. They are not blooming yet, but will later.
